Southern Section Leadership Conference
The Southern Section Leadership Conference (SSLC) is where students first truly compete for awards. SSLC is a day-long event that is generally held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in early February. Students usually begin studying for this conference one to two months in advance, since SSLC is the gateway to the State Leadership Conference (SLC)! We encourage all competing members to stay for the entire time, as students who place receive their medals at the Awards of Excellence ceremony at the end of the day.
For objective events, the top six competitors move on to SLC. For production events, the top five competitors move on to SLC. For prejudged and speaking events, the top two competitors move on to SLC. SSLC is also when FBLA members have the opportunity to run for Southern Section Board. Speeches are given during Opening Session, and two voting delegates from each chapter are selected to cast ballots. For those interested in running for a Section Board position, information is available on the California FBLA Website. |
